Project Guardian Angels - new horses

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 9, 2009, 12:47 PM

Project Guardian Angels

Welcome to Project Guardian Angels, a horse rescue project miss Grimhound of Zero Gravity stables has founded. The goal is to help neglected and abused horses of all ages, breeds and backgrounds to a new, better life. It is also very important to open eyes and make people think about our equine friends in need of help out there all the time. Horses give us their body, heart and strenght, they accompany as and carry us, so we are responsible to offer them the best care possible. There will be approxximately 1-3 rescue horses available per month.

If you have created the sort of rescue horse yourself, you can either choose to have rescued the horse privately or send a note and have you adopting the horse here. In this case you will not have to go through the full adopting program and the horse will be yours and yours only with all the credits and that stuff. No matter what you should choose, it would be great if you could send us links anyway to the pictures of the horse first being in bad shape and then recovered, so they could be added to the Success Stories.

Rules and requirements

(yes, you do need to read them all)

:bulletgreen: We only hand one horse per one person – no one can adopt multiple horses.

:bulletgreen: To adopt a rescue horse you must be accepted member of ~HorseArt-RPG and have a properly running stable with horses in it. If you’re adopting a mare or a gelding you need to have at least 1 mare or gelding in your stables to accompany the rescue horse.

:bulletgreen: You must have shown activity and caring for your horses, this meaning you have to have attended in shows or racers or drawn extra pictures of your horses besides the profile picture. If you haven’t had time yet or you are new to HARPG, please do this and try adopting next month.

:bulletgreen: In order to adopt, you must first send a note to *kalmakoira titled ” Project Guardian Angels ”, nothing else or the note will be ignored! This must include adoption application (form shown if you scroll down). If your application doesn’t have everything in it you will not be able to adopt.

:bulletgreen: If everything is ok with your application, you will be able to draw the horse in the condition it is the moment it arrived to the Horse Rescue, standing in a stall, grazing or posing for profile picture. Do not draw the picture before your application has been approved. You need to include a (short) story of how the horse ended up with you.

:bulletgreen: After a set time all adopt applicants will be judged in a certain way and the chosen new owner gets to carry on caring for the horse. Judging methods can be seen if you scroll down. Not first come first serve! Deadline will be set separately for every horse in question, you will in most cases have 1 month in total to finish first the application and then the picture.

:bulletgreen: You need to prepare for the fact that the horse might be either old, over 15 years, or very young, green or never trained, handled badly, wild and never handled, have bad habits like biting, kicking or bucking, be extremely thing, have been abused, in need of permanent extra attention and treatmens and in need of care and therapy for life.

:bulletgreen: If you have succesfully adopted a rescue horse, you need to draw at least following pictures and write (short) stories to go along with at least most of them:

1) the horse slowly getting better/eating/meeting new friends
2) the horse cured, normal weight, looking happy
3) the handling/caring/training of the horse
4) the horse attending in shows or being a broodmare or accompany horse

Yes it is a lot of work but if you’re not up for it no one is forcing you to adopt in the first place! Sketches do count, as long as they are full sketches you took the time to do, not just some 5 min doodles.

:bulletgreen: The horse cannot be cured (this meaning you can’t draw the picture 2) ) in shorter time than 1 month (real life!), and you must draw a new picture every once in a while. The first 3 pictures (including the one drawn in the hopes to adopt) are most essential and in this point you have basically made full adoption, but we are still eager to see the horse carry on from that point. This is why the extra pictures are required, but we hope that you would draw them even if they weren’t required.

:bulletgreen: If nothing is heard in 2 months (in between pictures) we will be in contact and if you should not reply (it is understandable if you’re busy, but you need to let us know that you are still going to keep up with the adopting program) the horse will be taken away and re-homed and the new owner takes off where the old one left the progress

:bulletgreen: Because the first neglected adoptables had different rules, their adopters are allowed to follow the older rules. These rules go with the new rescue horses.

Adoption application form

(must be sent in a note titled ” Project Guardian Angels ”, otherwise ignored)

:bulletorange: Your name (account nick is fine):

:bulletorange: Stables the rescue horse would be placed at (direct link to stable journal please):

:bulletorange: Proof for activity and caring for your horses (At least one link to a picture where your horse is at show, handled, trained or along those lines, headshots and sketches count – breeding pictures not accepted. The more links you can provide the higher points you’ll get, we will notice if you’re a new member.):

:bulletorange: The name of the horse you’re interested in adopting:

:bulletorange: The reason you’re interested escpecially in this horse:

:bulletorange: The planned use or uses for the horse (for example broodmare, stud, dressage, jumping, racing, barrel race etc.), write all that apply:

:bulletorange: You are aware that you need to draw at least 5 pictures to finish the adoption program and that there are issues the horse has (for example neglect, abuse, wild, old/young etc.):

Applicant judging methods

Mainly the judge is me, *kalmakoira, but I might ask for other opinions from my friends or trusted people, like *noblestallion who has offered to help.

:bulletred: You need to have followed all the rules and included everything requested in the application form for the judging to start

:bulletred: 5 points for application form (how much time and concentration you took to write it, did you mind your spelling and how good owner you would potentially seem to be)

:bulletred: 4 points for the picture you draw (shading, markings drawn correctly, background not left blank, no pre-made linearts used and how much time and effort you put in it. you don’t need to be the best or most realistical artist out there, effort is the key word)

:bulletred: 2 points for the (short) story you wrote

:bulletred: 1 point for the people that I know to be responsible and that have commented on my works and discussed with me over things – if you are a complete stranger you lose this point

:bulletred: In total you can get 10 points, the person with highest points wins the horse. If 2 people should have the same highest score, I will compare them and choose who I think is the best (and in this case I will ask other people what they think as well)

Thanks :aww: But I will be a lot stricter with these than normal adoptables, for example if someone should not follow all rules exactly their adoption will stop right there.

this is a good idea, i read the rules and a part confused me. can we make our own rescue horses and then put them into your Recovery Stories?

Thank you.

Well, it is possible to design your own rescue horse and write its story and then have it adopted from Project Guardian Angels, technically you just write in the horse's background that it is from here. If one doesn't wish to do this and wants the horse to be found privately, I'd be still great to be able to add the horse to the success stories (can be seen by scrolling all the way down in journal) when it is healed - to show people how many horses have been helped out all in all in HARPG. Of course I do hope that people respect me as the creator of the idea and get their rescue horses from here and don't make their own, but I don't feel like I can demand it.
